Dates: Wednesday November 11th, 18th & 25th
Time: 7:00 pm
Venue: Online Webinar
Target Audience: Primary Teachers and SNA’s
Part 1: Problem-solving using word problems
'Most, if not all, important mathematics concepts and procedures can best be taught through problem-solving. (Van De Walle 2013)' This webinar aims to change your perception of problem-solving as not just an add-on to a topic but as a medium of teaching new content and procedures. It will equip you with the knowledge, skills and resources to help your students become efficient problem-solvers through the use of cognitively challenging tasks in the form of word-problems as encouraged by the new PMC.
Part 2: Problem-solving using ICT
Problem-solving doesn't just stop at word-problems. Coding and using ICT enables your learners to develop their critical thinking, innovation and creativity as they think outside the box to run different programs and devices. This webinar will break down the technology jargon surrounding coding and participants will leave feeling confident to get coding with their class using accessible resources!
Part 3: Problem-solving through Integrated STEM
Integrated STEM is the capstone experience that can bring all the learning together in a meaningful and motivating way. This webinar will show you how STEM cultivates 21st-century thinkers and problem-solvers as they engage in STEM challenges and activities. It will inform you of the upcoming STEM curriculum plans and will empower you to feel in control of STEM learning in your class.
