Overview of Course
Trauma can profoundly impact a student’s ability to regulate, learn and form relationships. A trauma-informed approach recognises these effects and seeks to create supportive school environments where all children and young people feel emotionally safe and ready to learn. This four-part course provides educators at primary and post-primary levels with essential knowledge, key theories, and a wide range of practical strategies that can be applied in school settings. By embedding trauma-informed principles into practice, educators can create inclusive learning environments that support the wellbeing, learning and development of every student - not only those with identified trauma histories.
Course Outline:
Session 1: Understanding Trauma & Its Impact
Session 2: Building Safe & Supportive Relationships
Session 3: Supporting Emotional Regulation
Session 4: Empowering Pupils & Strengthening Connections
