Target Audience: Primary teachers of 3rd–6th class teaching writing through Irish — in Gaelscoileanna, Gaeltacht schools and English-medium schools (Gaeilge as T1 and T2).

Tús maith leath na hoibre! This opening session lays the foundation for Múineadh na Seanraí Scríbhneoireachta through Irish across Rang 3–6. We explore the writing genres, a range of teaching approaches, and how oral language supports and strengthens the learning process. We then dive into Athinsint (Recount), the most accessible genre, with ready-to-go ideas and structures you can follow.

Foghlamóidh na rannpháirtithe conas / By the end, participants will be able to:

• explore the writing genres (na seánraí scríbhneoireachta) and where Athinsint sits among them
• draw on a range of teaching approaches to writing, choosing what suits their class and context
• use oral language to support and strengthen writing — talk first, write second.
